David Joyce (R-OH) and Troy Carter (D-LA) introduced the <strong>State Efforts to Create Underground Regulatory Efficiency (SECURE) Act<\/strong>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/joyce.house.gov\/posts\/joyce-carter-introduce-bipartisan-bill-to-mitigate-co2-emissions\"><strong><span style=\"color:#B22222;\">bipartisan bill<\/span><\/strong><\/a> supporting state efforts to obtain primacy for Class VI carbon sequestration wells.\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li><a href=\"https:\/\/d12t4t5x3vyizu.cloudfront.net\/joyce.house.gov\/uploads\/2022\/10\/SECURE-Act.pdf\"><strong><span style=\"color:#B22222;\">The SECURE Act<\/span><\/strong><\/a> would increase the Environmental Protection Agency\u2019s authorized state grant funding for Class VI wells from $50 million to $100 million.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>Two states \u2013 North Dakota and Wyoming \u2013 have already received Class VI primacy.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>Federal permitting for these wells historically takes years, but North Dakota was able to permit a Class VI well in less than five months after being granted primacy.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&#8220;As the U.S sees a rapid growth of carbon capture and other important technologies, this common-sense policy from Reps.
