The 15 awards were given to a pretty wide array of researchers, including several universities and labs, but two private developers, Commonwealth Fusion Systems and Zap Energy, also received awards.<br>\n<br>\nThe program is a successor to their successful <a href=\"https:\/\/arpa-e.energy.gov\/?q=arpa-e-programs\/alpha\"><strong><span style=\"color:#B22222;\">ALPHA<\/span><\/strong><\/a> program.
