\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tNext week, the Senate Energy & Natural ResourcesCommittee will mark up the The Launching Energy Advancement through Innovations in Natural Gas (LEADING) Act<\/span><\/strong><\/a> as well as bipartisan legislation that will establish technology RD&D moonshots for advanced nuclear technologies, the Nuclear Energy Leadership Act (S.903)<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, and for carbon capture, carbon storage, carbon utilization, and carbon removal technologies, the Enhancing Fossil Fuel Energy Carbon Technology (EFFECT) Act (S.1201)<\/span><\/strong><\/a>.

It streamlines the Department of Energy by dedicating resources to perfecting carbon capture technologies for natural gas power plants, an authorization the Department lacks today. It also encourages active public-private partnerships and establishes ambitious proof-of-concept project goals. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe annual ARPA-E Technology and Innovation Summit brought together experts from diverse backgrounds to discuss America’s energy challenges including ClearPath\u2019s Faith Smith<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, who had this to say about the summit, \u201cI admired the realistic approaches that many of the sessions focused on. For example, ARPA-E staff is seeking assistance to address challenges and even utilities and policymakers are acknowledging the lack of innovative technologies required to meet decarbonization goals.\u201d

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tA couple of weeks ago, the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities signed off on power purchasing agreements to buy hydropower from Hydro-Quebec who is working to get a transmission line built to export more of its clean electricity.
